Picea glauca ‘Alberta Globe’ is a dwarf evergreen conifer prized for its natural, rounded shape and fine-textured foliage. A cultivar of white spruce, this variety grows very slowly to form a neat, symmetrical globe without the need for pruning.
It typically reaches 50–80 cm in height and spread over many years, making it ideal for small gardens, rockeries, foundation plantings, or containers. The dense needles are bright green to blue-green, remaining attractive year-round and offering a soft contrast to stone, mulch, or other plants.
‘Alberta Globe’ thrives in full sun and prefers well-drained, moist soils but can tolerate a range of conditions once established. It’s cold-hardy, deer-resistant, and very low-maintenance, needing no shaping to maintain its form.
This spruce is often used in formal landscapes, alpine gardens, and as a focal point in minimalist planting designs due to its tidy habit and evergreen presence.
