Juniperus squamata 'Meyerii' is a striking evergreen conifer known for its silvery-blue to steel-blue foliage and semi-upright, arching habit. Unlike most ground-hugging varieties of squamata, 'Meyerii' grows more vertically, reaching 1.5 to 2 meters tall and 1–1.5 meters wide, forming a bushy, fountain-like shape.
The foliage consists of dense, sharp, needle-like leaves that retain their brilliant blue hue year-round. In cooler climates, the blue tones often intensify, making it an eye-catching feature in the winter landscape. Its elegant, flowing branches and vibrant color make it especially valuable as a specimen plant, background shrub, or for adding contrast to mixed plantings.
'Meyerii' prefers full sun and well-drained soil, and is tolerant of drought, wind, and urban pollution once established. It is also resistant to deer and pests, requiring little to no pruning to maintain its naturally attractive shape.
This hardy, low-maintenance conifer adds structure, color, and soft movement to both formal and informal garden designs.
